Contentment Family,

I had drafted a message last week to update you on our progress.  It was full of pretty pictures, celebrations of progress, and happy news from members.  All of these things are still true today but seem totally insignificant compared to the events of the end of the week.  So, I will send some version of that message in the future.  Today is for a different message.

To our knowledge, all of our members and staff are safe.  This is what truly matters and for which we are most grateful.

Many of you have been kind to ask how our project fared with the horrific storm.  As expected, 13.5 inches of rain created significant damage.  This is nothing that time and money will not fix and the damage is nothing compared to the devastation we see to our near west.  We are lucky.  No greens were lost and where we had grass it held up unbelievably well.  Here are a few pictures of the good and the bad.

Our team and Landscapes Unlimited were on site Saturday and Sunday starting the clean-up. We are most grateful, and when you see Chris or Jack next time you are on the property, give them a pat on the back. Their immediate hard work and response were phenomenal, and I know it was so discouraging to see the loss of so much hard work. Resiliency is a great virtue!

We will lose a bit of time, but I am confident that our team will be able to get us back on track to an opening in September of 2025.  Some of our goals for this year are likely harder to achieve, but we are moving forward!

We are most concerned with our neighbors to the west, where the rainfall and wind were so much worse. The devastation is hard to comprehend, and we pray for safety, the will to rebuild, and the harmony of working together to rebuild what has been lost.

What we know and believe at Contentment is the following.

  1. God is good.  This doesn’t mean bad things don’t happen, but it does mean God has a proven ability to bring good out of horrible circumstances.  I am sure that will be the case here.
  2. Our club was built to honor what is most important – relationships with people and God.  It has never just been about a golf course or a building.  This situation is a stark and urgent reminder of that.  We will use these circumstances to come closer together and build stronger relationships.
  3. Finally, when people work together in harmony they can achieve amazing things.  The course of history has proven this.  Let us hope and work together to make this true again for our club, our community and our country.

We will have an update on our progress in a few weeks as we get clean up and repairs done.  Thank you for all you do for Contentment.  We are appreciative for each of you and look forward to seeing you soon.

Curt
